princesse anglaise, née en 961, fille naturelle de saint Edgar, roi des Anglo-Saxons, de 959 à 975, née en 961. Moniale, elle refusa la couronne à la mort de saint Edouard le Martyr, mort assassiné en 978. Elle mourut en 984 au monastère de Wilton. Nom issu du germain "ed" (richesse). Fête le 16 septembre.
